Inhalation of dust may result in respiratory irritation.

2.2 Health Effects - Chronic

No data found.

2.3 First Aid

Swallowed

If swallowed, seek medical attention immediately.

Eye

Irrigate with copious quantities of water for 15 minutes. In all cases of eye contamination it is a sensible precaution to seek medical advice.

Skin

Wash contaminated skin with plenty of soap and water. If irritation occurs, seek medical advice.

Inhaled

Remove victim from exposure - avoid becoming casualty. Seek medical advice if effects persist.

First Aid Facilities

Ensure an eye bath and safety shower are available and ready for use.

3. PRECAUTIONS FOR USE

3.1 Exposure Standards

No value assigned for this material by Worksafe , however the following is recommended for nuisance dusts : TWA 10 mg/m3.

3.2 Engineering Controls

Ensure adequate ventilation to maintain exposure levels below standard.

3.3 Personal Protection

Avoid eye and repeated or prolonged skin contact, and inhalation of dust. Wear overalls, safety glasses and impervious gloves. Available information suggests that gloves made from rubber should be suitable for intermittent contact. However due to variations in glove construction and local conditions, a final assessment should be made by the user. If dust exists, wear dust mask meeting the requirements of AS1715 and AS1716. Always wash hands before smoking, eating, drinking or using the toilet.

3.4 Flammability

Non combustible material.

SAFE HANDLING INFORMATION

4.1 Storage / Transport

Not defined as a Dangerous Good by the n Code for the Transport of Dangerous Goods by Road and Rail. Store in a cool (below 30 deg C), dry area out of direct sunlight. Store away from oxidising agents. Do not add to hot materials; do not grind or subject to frictional heat or shock - explosive decomposition may result.

Hazard HARMFUL

Risk Phrases

R22 Harmful if swallowed.

R36/37/38 Irritating to eyes, respiratory system and skin.

Safety Phrases

S24/25 Avoid contact with skin and eyes.

4.3 Spills and Disposal

Spills

Wear protective equipment to prevent skin and eye contamination and inhalation of dust.

Contain spill. Sweep up but avoid generating dust. Collect and seal in properly labelled containers for disposal.

Disposal

Dispose of in accordance with all Local, State and Federal regulations at an approved waste disposal facility.

4.4 FIRE AND EXPLOSION HAZARD

Fire / Explosion

Not combustible. If involved in a fire, can decompose generating sulphur dioxide, ammonia, and sulfinic acid. Incompatible with oxidising agents, water and heavy metals. Material is shock sensitive and potentially explosive. Hazardous decomposition products include carbon dioxide and probably carbon monoxide. Oxides of nitrogen and sulphur may also be present. Hazardous polymerisation will not occur.

Extinguishing Media

Fire fighters should wear self-contained breathing apparatus if risk of exposure to products of decomposition. Use water spray, dry chemical or carbon dioxide. Use equipment/media appropriate to surrounding fire conditions.
